About JPG to PNG
JPG to PNG converts a photo into a lossless PNG container. It does not recover detail that JPEG already discarded, but it stops further generation loss when the file will be edited repeatedly.
PNG files are typically three to five times larger than the source JPEG, so use it for editing, not for web delivery.

Questions about JPG to PNG
Does PNG improve quality?
No. The pixels are identical; PNG only avoids adding new compression artefacts.
Can I get transparency?
No. JPEG has no alpha channel, so there is nothing to preserve.
Why is the PNG so large?
Lossless storage keeps every pixel. Photos compress poorly without loss.
Which should I upload to a website?
Keep JPEG or WebP for photos; PNG is for graphics, screenshots and editing.
