About Volume Normalizer

Volume Normalizer evens out loudness so quiet and loud recordings play at a similar level — the standard fix for podcasts assembled from different microphones or rooms.

It targets perceived loudness rather than raw peaks, which avoids the pumping that simple peak limiting produces.

How to use Volume Normalizer

  1. 1

    Upload the audio

MP3, WAV and M4A are accepted.

  2. 2

    Choose a target

Around −16 LUFS suits podcasts; −14 LUFS matches most streaming platforms.

  3. 3

    Download and compare

Listen at the same volume setting — louder is not automatically better.

Questions about Volume Normalizer

Will it clip loud peaks?

The normaliser reduces gain where needed; extreme cases may still need a limiter.

What is LUFS?

Loudness units relative to full scale — a perceptual measure, not a peak meter.

Does it change quality?

Gain changes are applied to the existing stream; repeated processing degrades lossy files.

Why is my podcast quieter than music?

Speech at −16 LUFS is intentionally lower than a −9 LUFS master. That is expected.
