HTTP Status Checker
Check the HTTP response status code and headers of any URL.
About HTTP Status Checker
HTTP Status Checker requests a URL and reports the status code, redirect chain and response time, which is the fastest way to confirm a page is live after a deploy or DNS change.
It distinguishes a real 200 from a soft 404, and shows whether a redirect is permanent or temporary.
How to use HTTP Status Checker
- 1
Enter the URL
A full http(s) URL, including the path you want to test.
- 2
Run the check
The tool follows redirects and records each hop with its status.
- 3
Read the chain
A 301 is permanent and passes ranking signals; 302 and 307 are temporary.
Questions about HTTP Status Checker
What is the difference between 301 and 302?
301 tells search engines the move is permanent and consolidates signals; 302 keeps the original URL as canonical.
401 or 403?
401 means authentication is missing or wrong; 403 means authenticated but not allowed.
Why does it show 200 for a missing page?
That is a soft 404 — the server returns success while showing an error page. It should return a real 404.
Does it test CORS?
No. This checks HTTP status and redirects; CORS needs a browser request with an Origin header.
