About PDF Metadata Cleaner
PDF Metadata Cleaner removes the document properties that travel with a PDF: author, title, subject, keywords, creator application and XMP history.
This matters before publishing a document that was drafted internally — the original author and software path are often still embedded.
How to use PDF Metadata Cleaner
- 1
Upload the PDF
The document is processed once and deleted afterwards.
- 2
Clean
Both the Info dictionary and XMP metadata are cleared.
- 3
Download
Page content is untouched; only properties are removed.
Questions about PDF Metadata Cleaner
Does it remove visible text?
No. Only document properties are cleared, not the content on the page.
Does it shrink the file?
Slightly, when XMP blocks or thumbnails are large.
Is the signature affected?
Digital signatures cover the document bytes; changing metadata invalidates them.
Can metadata be recovered?
No. Keep the original if you need the audit trail.
