Hash Generator

Generate MD5, SHA1, SHA256, and SHA512 hashes of any text.

About Hash Generator

Hash Generator computes MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 and SHA-512 digests of text, so you can verify a checksum or compare two values without uploading the content.

Hashes are one-way: the same input always gives the same digest, and any change produces a completely different one.

How to use Hash Generator

  1. 1

    Paste the text

The digest updates as you type.

  2. 2

    Pick an algorithm

SHA-256 for integrity checks; MD5 only for legacy comparisons.

  3. 3

    Copy the digest

Compare with the published checksum character by character.

Questions about Hash Generator

Can I use MD5 for passwords?

No. MD5 and SHA-1 are fast and broken for password storage — use bcrypt, scrypt or Argon2.

Why do two hashes differ for the same text?

Usually a trailing newline or invisible whitespace. Hashes are exact.

Is hashing encryption?

No. It cannot be reversed; only guessed by trying inputs.

Is my input sent anywhere?

No, hashing runs in the browser.
