Base64 Decoder

Decode Base64 encoded strings back to plain text.

About Base64 Decoder

Base64 Decoder turns an encoded string back into text or a binary file, including data: URLs copied from CSS or JSON payloads.

Decoding happens locally; API tokens and inline images never leave the page.

How to use Base64 Decoder

  1. 1

    Paste the encoded value

Raw Base64 or a full data:image/... URL — the prefix is handled.

  2. 2

    Choose output

Text for readable content, file download for binary data.

  3. 3

    Copy or download

Binary output keeps the media type declared in the data URL.

Questions about Base64 Decoder

Why does decoding fail?

Usually padding or stray whitespace. The string must be a multiple of four characters; newlines are ignored.

Is Base64 secure?

No. It is encoding, not encryption — anyone can decode it.

Can it decode URL-safe Base64?

Yes, - and _ are normalised back to + and / automatically.

Can I recover an image?

Yes, if the data URL includes a media type, the decoded bytes are saved with the right extension.
